Man Allegedly Stabs Wife to Death over infidelity claims

In a shocking turn of events, a 34-year-old man, identified as Dare, has been accused of fatally stabbing his wife following allegations of infidelity. The distressing incident occurred in Ado-Ekiti, the capital city of Ekiti State, on Saturday, at their residence situated in the Adebayo area.

According to reports gathered by the Nigerian Tribune, the couple, who had two children, had sent their elder child on an errand before engaging in a heated argument that escalated into a violent confrontation. Dare, purportedly a law enforcement officer, and his wife, employed at a chemist shop, reportedly wielded sharp objects, inflicting fatal wounds on each other during the altercation.

A resident of the area, who preferred anonymity, disclosed that the couple locked themselves inside their apartment with their younger child, approximately five years old, as the altercation unfolded. The argument allegedly stemmed from Dare accusing his wife of infidelity, leading to a physical altercation that tragically ended in her demise.

Efforts by concerned individuals to intervene were thwarted as the couple had locked the door to their apartment. Subsequently, some individuals resorted to removing parts of the building’s ceiling to gain entry. Upon gaining access, they discovered the couple grievously injured, with the wife appearing unconscious. She was promptly rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries before reaching medical attention.

The husband, severely injured from the altercation, is currently undergoing treatment at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti. Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Sunday Abutu, revealed that the deceased’s children reported the tragic occurrence. The police command has initiated an investigation into the matter to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
