Super Eagles B End Six-Year CHAN Absence in Spectacular Fashion, Outclass Ghana to Secure 2025 Tournament Berth

Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles have stormed their way back into the African Nations Championship (CHAN) after a stunning 3-1 triumph over Ghana’s Black Galaxies on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

The second-leg victory sealed Nigeria’s qualification for the 2025 CHAN, ending a six-year absence from the tournament.

First-Half Blitz Stuns Ghana
Following a goalless stalemate in the first leg in Accra, the Super Eagles B wasted no time in asserting their dominance. Remo Stars duo Sodiq Ismail and Nduka Junior found the back of the net in the first 22 minutes, with Rangers’ Kazeem Ogunleye adding a third in the 25th minute to leave the visitors reeling.

Ghana managed a consolation goal in the 73rd minute through Stephen Amankuna, but it was too little, too late as Nigeria held their ground to clinch a memorable victory.

Historic Win Over Arch-Rivals
This victory holds special significance for Nigeria, who had previously suffered CHAN qualification heartbreak at the hands of Ghana in 2008 and 2022.

Looking Ahead to CHAN 2025
The Super Eagles B will now join other top teams at the 2025 CHAN, set to be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania from February 1-25. Nigeria will aim to surpass their best-ever performance in the competition, having finished as runners-up in 2018.
