Taraba Monarch And Son Killed In Deadly Ambush By Gunmen

A tragic incident has rocked Taraba State, Nigeria, as the Gara of Chanchanji, HRH Tanimu Kunbiya, and his son, Yusuf, were ambushed and killed along the Takum-Chanchanji road in Takum Local Government Area on Friday. The traditional ruler and his son were returning from a funeral event in Takum when they fell victim to the brutal attack.

The Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has condemned the killing and directed law enforcement agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and apprehend those responsible. The media aide, Emmanuel Bello stated that the governor expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased, the Chanchanji community, and the people of Takum.

According to sources, the governor has ordered security agents to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice and has assured residents of Takum to remain calm, as the state government is committed to ensuring that justice is served.

The President General of Tiv Cultural and Social Association, Taraba State, Chief James Baka, has also condemned the killing and urged the government and security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. He appealed to His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to deploy security forces to maintain peace in the area.

The Tiv people of Takum have a long history of peaceful coexistence with their Chamba and Jukun neighbors. This incident has left them reeling in shock and sadness. However, they remain committed to maintaining their harmonious relationship and stand united against any acts of violence that threaten their collective peace.
