Nigeria Police Force Launches Nine-Step Digital Guide for Tinted Glass Permit Application
In a bid to streamline the process of obtaining tinted glass permits, the Nigeria Police Force has unveiled a detailed nine-step procedure designed to assist motorists in registering and applying for their permits via the official online portal. This initiative aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and user convenience in permit acquisition.
Step 1: Access the Official Portal
Applicants are advised to visit the Police Specialised Services Automation Project website at www.possap.gov.ng. Here, they will begin the registration process.
Step 2: Register Using Personal Identification
To create an account, users are required to sign up using one of the following identification numbers: their National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), or Tax Identification Number (TIN). Accurate personal details must be provided during registration to facilitate smooth processing.
Step 3: Complete Registration and Verify Account
After filling out the registration form with correct data, applicants must verify their account. A verification code will be sent to their registered email address, which they need to input to activate their account.
Step 4: Login to the Portal
Once verification is successful, users can log in to their accounts using their email address and password, gaining access to the application dashboard.
Step 5: Initiate Tinted Glass Permit Application
Within the portal, applicants should select the “Tinted Glass Permit” service. They will then be prompted to enter specific vehicle details, including registration number, make, model, and color.
Step 6: Upload Supporting Documents
Applicants must upload all required supporting documents, such as proof of vehicle ownership, factory-fitted tinted windows, and any other necessary paperwork as stipulated in the guidelines.
Step 7: Review and Confirm Information
Before proceeding, applicants are advised to double-check all submitted information to ensure accuracy. Confirmed details will be used for the subsequent steps.
Step 8: Make Payment
The next step involves completing the payment for the permit application. The portal provides options for secure online payment to facilitate the process.
Step 9: Schedule Inspection and Biometric Capture
The final phase requires applicants to book an appointment for vehicle inspection and biometric data collection. This is to be conducted at a Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Department location of the applicant’s choice, completing the permit issuance process.
This digital method aligns with the police’s broader goal of providing accessible, transparent, and efficient services to the public. The move to resume tint permit issuance nationwide follows a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
The announcement was made through a statement issued on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi. The decision responds to growing concerns and complaints from vehicle owners regarding harassment by law enforcement agents over the use of factory-fitted tinted windows, thereby addressing a significant public issue.
