Special Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale to President Tinubu Takes Indefinite Leave of Absence Due to Family Health Crisis
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has applied for an indefinite leave of absence to address a pressing family health crisis. In a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, Ngelale explained that he has been forced to pause his duties as the President’s spokesperson and official mouthpiece due to the worsening condition of his immediate family members.
According to Ngelale, he has been grappling with a vexatious medical situation at home for several days, which has taken a toll on his family. After extensive consultations with his loved ones, he made the difficult decision to take a leave of absence to focus on their health and well-being.
As Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ngelale’s duties will be temporarily suspended, including his role as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen. He expressed his commitment to returning to full-time national service when the time is right.
Ngelale respectfully requested privacy for his family during this challenging period, acknowledging that the demands of state cannot be ignored. The President’s office is expected to announce a replacement or interim arrangements for the affected portfolios in the coming days.
The development comes at a sensitive time for the government, with various pressing issues on its plate. However, Ngelale’s decision underscores the importance of prioritizing family and personal well-being in the face of adversity.
