US Embassy in Nigeria Issues Security Alert Ahead of Planned Protests
The United States Embassy in Nigeria has released a security advisory in anticipation of a protest organized by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), scheduled for Friday, March 28, 2025. The alert, issued from the embassy in Abuja, warns citizens of potential disruptions, including heavy traffic.
The embassy’s statement noted that demonstrations are likely to take place in Abuja and other major cities. Past incidents have shown that such protests may lead to roadblocks, checkpoints, significant traffic congestion, and possibly confrontations among attendees.

In light of the anticipated unrest, the embassy advised residents to steer clear of areas where protests are occurring. Additional precautions include exercising vigilance if unexpectedly near large gatherings and keeping an eye on local news for updates. It was also suggested that individuals review their personal security plans, ensure their mobile phones are charged for emergencies, and carry proper identification.
