Ikorodu, Lagos – Azeez Oshoala, brother of renowned Super Falcons striker and six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, has officially declared his intention to contest for the chairmanship of Ikorodu Local Government under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oshoala, a media entrepreneur, made his declaration on Saturday at his campaign office in Ikorodu, ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in Lagos State.

In his address, he emphasized the role of youth in leadership, citing their energy, innovation, and dynamism as key qualities that make them effective leaders. He revealed that his decision to run followed extensive consultations with political leaders and stakeholders in the community.

“I have consulted my leaders and other stakeholders widely on the need to be supported to emerge as the next Ikorodu Local Government chairman,” Oshoala stated.

He described his ambition as a service-driven commitment rather than a pursuit of power or financial gain.

“This move is to help harness and unleash all the potential for greatness and transformation of our local government. This is an offer to serve my people; it is therefore not a do-or-die ambition, and it is not a raw lust for power or monetary gain,” he added.

Oshoala promised to implement life-transforming initiatives aimed at fostering development and improving the lives of residents and indigenes of Ikorodu.

The chairmanship aspirant holds two Master’s degrees from international institutions and is a member of various professional organizations.
