Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an arrest warrant for Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The warrant is in connection to his alleged involvement in the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Ehie, who previously served as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, is ordered to be apprehended alongside five other individuals based in Port Harcourt.
These individuals, namely Jinjiri Bala, Happy Benedict, Progress Joseph, Adokiye Oyagiri, and Chibuike Peter (also known as Rambo), are accused of participating in criminal activities.
The arrest order was granted by Justice Nwite on Wednesday, following an ex-parte application brought before him by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
In a related development, the Port Harcourt division of the Rivers State High Court had today restrained the security operatives in the country from arresting Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Governor Fubara.
The court order was issued in response to a motion ex-parte filed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor. The order aimed to prevent the police from arresting him for his alleged involvement in the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly’s Hallowed Chambers last year.
