A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Hadi Abubakar Sirika, his daughter, Fatimah Hadi Sirika, and son-in-law, Jalal Hamma, in connection with an alleged N2.7bn fraud case related to the Nigerian Air project.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges before Justice Sylvanus Orji after an amended charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was presented, with no opposition from their counsels.

The bail application, presented by the defendants’ lead counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), was granted by Justice Orji. Each defendant was granted bail in the sum of N100 million with two sureties, one of whom must possess a landed property with valid land titles within the Federal Capital Territory.

Furthermore, the defendants were prohibited from leaving the country without court permission. Failure to meet the bail conditions would result in remand in a correctional facility.
