Gunmen Attack Daewoo Convoy, Killed 4 Soldiers, Kidnap 2 Korean Expatriates in Rivers State

A fierce gun battle erupted between police operatives and gunmen suspected to be IPOB supporters at Ishieke police station in Ebonyi LGA late Thursday night, leaving at least five of the attackers dead.

According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen arrived at the station in a blue Sienna bus around 9:30 pm and engaged police in a 30-minute shootout before reinforcements arrived from the state police headquarters and the military.

Police vehicles were set on fire during the confrontation, causing local residents to flee for safety. Video footage circulating on social media shows the aftermath, with the bodies of the assailants visible.

Security forces swiftly mobilized to the scene, intercepting and subduing the gunmen as they attempted to flee towards Odomoke Ishieke market.

The Sienna bus used by the attackers and the deceased bodies have been transported to the state police headquarters for further investigation.

Authorities have not yet made an official comment on the incident.
