Nigerian Police Arrest Driver for Brutal Murder of Elderly Couple in Abuja

The Nigerian Police have apprehended Jonathan Marcus in connection with the brutal slaying of 80-year-old Adebola Ezekiel and his wife, Abiodun Ezekiel, in their home in the Apo area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The tragic incident unfolded earlier this month when the couple was found dead in their apartment, their throats gruesomely slit by assailants wielding daggers.

Reports indicate that one of the windows of the apartment was forced open, and the scene was discovered with the victims lying in a pool of blood.

According to a police source, suspicion arose when one of the couple’s sons was unable to reach his parents and enlisted the help of a neighbor to check on them. Upon finding the door locked, they broke in to uncover the horrifying sight.

Addressing journalists at the command headquarters in Abuja, FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, disclosed that Marcus, a former driver for the deceased couple, was traced and apprehended at his hideout in Obajana, Kogi State.

Marcus reportedly confessed to the heinous crime, admitting to entering the house on the fateful night, murdering the elderly couple, and stealing their phones and ATM cards.

“The suspect will be charged to court soon,” affirmed Commissioner Igweh, emphasizing the swift response of the police in launching an immediate investigation following the report of the tragic murder.

This development sends shockwaves through the community, prompting calls for justice and renewed vigilance in safeguarding against such senseless acts of violence.
