Cristiano Ronaldo Reflects on Retirement as He Surpasses Milestone in Portugal’s Victory

Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up about his potential retirement plans following a significant achievement during Portugal’s impressive 5-1 victory over Poland in the UEFA Nations League on Friday. In this match, Ronaldo netted two goals, one of which was a stunning bicycle kick, contributing to Portugal’s advancement to the quarterfinals.

This latest win not only secured Portugal’s spot in the next stage of the tournament but also marked a personal milestone for Ronaldo, who now boasts 132 international victories—surpassing his former Real Madrid teammate Sergio Ramos, who achieved 131 wins with the Spanish national team.

Post-match, the 39-year-old superstar reflected on his future in football, expressing his enduring love for the sport even as retirement looms on the horizon. “I just want to enjoy [myself],” Ronaldo shared with the media. He further mentioned, “Do I have plans for retirement? If it has to happen, in one or two years… I don’t know. I’m turning 40 soon. I genuinely want to enjoy my time on the field; as long as I feel motivated, I will continue to play. The day I lose that motivation, I will retire.”

When reporters pressed him about life after retirement, Ronaldo made it clear that he doesn’t envision taking on a coaching role in the future.
