Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has denounced the actions of private jet operators conducting commercial services without proper licensing.

Keyamo asserted that such practices are detrimental to the Federal Government’s revenue and constitute economic sabotage.

During the interview with Channels TV, Keyamo highlighted the discrepancy between licenses for private and commercial aircraft operation, emphasizing the substantial revenue loss incurred when private jets are operated for commercial purposes without the appropriate permits.

Expressing concern for passengers’ safety, Keyamo criticized the lax regulation surrounding unlicensed commercial flights. He vowed to take decisive action against violators, stating, “I am coming for them because the president has given us a marching order, and we are not going to allow it.”

Keyamo further warned that individuals, regardless of their connections, would face consequences for flouting regulations, including the potential grounding of their aircraft.

He affirmed the government’s commitment to upholding laws, generating revenue, and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians.

The minister’s declaration signals a forthcoming crackdown on unauthorized commercial operations within the private jet industry, with Keyamo promising swift action in the coming days or weeks.
