Reacting to the development, the Kaduna Police Command, through its spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan, issued a statement on Friday night clarifying that Hussaini is not and has never been a serving officer of the Nigeria Police Force.
Kaduna, Nigeria — The Kaduna State Police Command has distanced itself from an individual, Hadaina Hussaini, also known as Dan-Taki, who was recently seen wearing a police uniform while issuing inflammatory threats on social media.
Hussaini, who posed as a police officer, sparked outrage after posting comments online vowing retaliatory attacks against southerners in the North. His threats followed the recent killing of 16 northerners in Uromi, located in Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
In a Facebook post that went viral on Tuesday, Hussaini swore by God to take action against southerners residing in northern Nigeria, warning that they would witness the consequences within a week.
Reacting to the development, the Kaduna Police Command, through its spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan, issued a statement on Friday night clarifying that Hussaini is not and has never been a serving officer of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to the statement, Hussaini was previously enlisted in the Police Special Constabulary — a voluntary unit — but was dismissed two years ago due to questionable conduct.
“The attention of the Kaduna State Police Command has been drawn to a viral Facebook comment attributed to one Hadaina Hussaini (alias Dan-Taki), falsely identifying himself as a police officer and threatening southerners over the unfortunate killings in Uromi,” the statement read.
“To set the record straight, Hussaini is not a personnel of the Nigeria Police Force nor is he affiliated with the Kaduna State Police Command. He was a member of the Police Special Constabulary, a voluntary outfit, and was dismissed in 2022 for misconduct.”
The Command emphasized that images circulating online showing Hussaini in a police uniform were taken before his dismissal. The uniform bore the abbreviation “PSC/KD,” indicating his former role as a special constable in Kaduna.
Police confirmed that Hussaini has since been arrested and is currently undergoing preliminary investigation. He is expected to be arraigned in court in line with existing legal provisions.
“The suspect has been taken into custody and will face charges once investigations are concluded,” Hassan added.
Reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to national unity and public safety, the Command condemned the inciting remarks and urged the public to remain calm.
“The Nigeria Police Force is a disciplined and law-abiding institution. We do not condone incitement, hate speech, or actions that threaten the peaceful coexistence of citizens,” the statement said.
Commissioner of Police, CP Rabi’u Muhammad, called on citizens to stay vigilant and continue reporting suspicious activities to the authorities, assuring that all such reports will be handled swiftly and professionally.
