Ilorin, Nigeria – The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB) has announced the recruitment of 1,811 successful candidates from a pool of 55,713 applicants across the state.

A statement issued by the board’s Press Secretary, Aminat Atere, on Tuesday in Ilorin, revealed that the newly hired staff include 1,500 teachers, predominantly in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects, and 311 non-teaching staff such as drivers, security guards, and office assistants. The recruits will be deployed to schools across the state’s 16 local government areas.

According to the statement, successful applicants with valid phone numbers have already been contacted and issued their appointment letters.

The documentation process commenced on Monday, January 6, with successful candidates from Kwara North. Documentation for candidates from Kwara South was scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, while those from Kwara Central are slated for Wednesday, January 8.

KWSUBEB Chairman, Prof. Sheu Adaramaja, emphasized that the recruitment process prioritized candidates who are willing to remain and serve in their assigned communities. This strategy, he explained, aligns with the board’s objective to address manpower shortages in rural areas.

“The board sought nominations of competent and qualified individuals from rural communities to bridge the gap in underserved regions,” Adaramaja said.
