Portable Reveals Shocking Past: From Aspiring Internet Fraudster to Music Sensation
Singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, recently disclosed that his initial motivation for creating his Instagram and Facebook accounts was to explore internet fraud, commonly referred to as Yahoo Yahoo. In a video that went viral on Tuesday, Portable made these revelations during a conversation with content creator Egungun of Lagos while on a car ride.
When questioned about the peculiar name ‘Elizabeth Joyce’ on his Instagram profile, Portable candidly admitted that the account was initially designed for fraudulent purposes. “To be honest, I had a Facebook and Instagram account back then when I wanted to learn about Yahoo,” he stated in Pidgin English.

He went on to explain that once he gained recognition, he altered the account to eliminate any potentially damaging information. “Yahoo didn’t work out, so I shut that account down. When I heard they were looking for me because I had become popular, I edited it and deleted any foreign elements. It’s now an active account,” he noted.
Portable rose to fame in December 2021 with his hit single ‘Zazoo Zeh,’ featuring prominent artists Olamide and Poco Lee. However, his career has encountered numerous controversies. Earlier this year, he found himself in conflict with Ogun State officials, which led to his arrest and arraignment on five charges, including assault. Authorities accused Portable of orchestrating a violent attack on government agents who were trying to seal his bar due to permit violations.
After being declared wanted on February 18, Portable eventually turned himself in to the police and was granted bail set at N2 million. The proceedings of his case were postponed until March 5.
