During the sentencing hearing, a 17-year-old girl testified that Pinker had sexually assaulted her when she was younger.
A Weld County, Colorado, judge has sentenced 34-year-old James Pinker to 112 years to life in prison for the sexual assault of two children in a relative’s home in December 2021. The sentence was handed down on August 30, following a guilty verdict in June on four counts of sexual assault on a child in a pattern of abuse.
The victims, two young girls whose ages were not disclosed, were playing in the basement of their relative’s home when Pinker joined in and began playing a “kissing” game with them. According to authorities, the game involved Pinker putting his mouth on the girls’ private areas and making them remove their clothing. During the sentencing hearing, a 17-year-old girl testified that Pinker had sexually abused her when she was younger.
Deputy District Attorney Timothy McCormack emphasized the severity of Pinker’s crimes, stating that he had abused multiple young children. Although it is unclear whether additional charges have been filed in these cases, McCormack noted that Pinker’s actions had “shattered the innocence and lives of several young children.” The prosecutor added that the sentence reflects the gravity of Pinker’s crimes and the justice deserved for his victims.
The investigation into Pinker’s abuse was launched after authorities were notified about the December 2021 incident. The case highlights the importance of reporting suspected child abuse and the severe consequences faced by those who perpetuate such heinous acts.
In response to Pinker’s sentence, community members have expressed relief and gratitude for the justice served. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions and providing support to survivors of sexual abuse.
