Lagos, Nigeria – A fire outbreak early Friday morning hits Sanni Adewale Street in Lagos Island, causing significant damage to a seven-storey building and several shops within it.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service promptly responded to the distress call, dispatching firefighters from the Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations, who arrived at the scene at 5:33 a.m. to tackle the emergency.

According to the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, the fire was promptly brought under control, and no casualties have been reported.

“Thanks to the swift actions of the Lagos State Firefighters, the situation is now under control. Ventilation efforts are currently underway to ensure the safety of all in the area,” Adeseye stated.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was triggered by an electrical surge, leading to the destruction of goods valued at millions of naira. Emergency officials remain on-site to manage the situation and ensure the safety of nearby residents.

As of the time of this report, the cause of the fire outbreak is still under investigation, but authorities are thankful that no lives were lost in the incident.
