The Federal Capital Territory Police Command (FCT) embarked on a clearance operation in suspected kidnappers’ hideouts and routes surrounding Apo Resettlement in Abuja.

The operation, led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, involved a thorough combing of the hills and thick bushes in Zone A and B of Apo-resettlement and its environs.

SP Josephine Adeh, the command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed in a statement on Wednesday that the operation took place on April 1, 2024, around 11 am.

The primary objective was to establish security measures in areas perceived to be frequented by kidnappers and criminals.

Adeh stated, “The clearance operation involved burning of illegal structures and bushes surrounding the hills and the proactive deployment of police operatives for surveillance patrol, as the entry and exit routes to the hills have been adequately manned.”

Commissioner Igweh emphasized the importance of community vigilance, urging residents to promptly report any suspicious activities to the police. The initiative underscores the commitment of the FCT Police Command to safeguarding the lives and property of residents in the area.
