Tragedy struck at Arigbabu Village, Sotubo in Sagamu local government area of Ogun State, as a landlord, Benjamin Apeh, collapsed and died during an argument with his tenant over unpaid rent.
According to the Police Command in Ogun, the incident occurred on Sunday, with the tenant reported to have threatened to kill Apeh during the altercation.
The police received a report of a suspected murder case on Monday evening from Precious Apeh, the daughter of the deceased. She alleged that her father had an argument with the tenant on Saturday evening over unpaid house rent, and that he collapsed during another argument with the tenant on Sunday morning.
Apeh was rushed to NNPC Hospital, Mosimi, but was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty. The tenant fled the scene, and police are now working to apprehend him.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) Morgue in Sagamu. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
