Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have made significant arrests in various locations, thwarting multiple attempts by drug traffickers.

In Lagos, Freeman Charles Ogbonna, a drug trafficker and a passenger bound for Delhi, India, was apprehended at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Ogbonna, traveling with a Liberian passport under the name Carr Bismark, was found to have ingested 80 wraps of cocaine.


Despite initial attempts to conceal his identity and the drugs, Ogbonna was discovered through body scanning and later expelled the contraband through vomiting and excretion.

Meanwhile, in another operation at the same airport, Imran Taofeek Olalekan was intercepted at Terminal 1 Gate C Departure. Olalekan, destined for Oman, was found with drugs concealed in his luggage and backpack. His accomplice, Ishola Isiaka Olalekan, was also apprehended.


The pair were discovered with charms, believed to be used for protection against detection during their illicit activities.

At the Tincan seaport in Lagos, NDLEA operatives, in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service, seized 2,144 parcels of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis, weighing 1,072kg. The drugs were concealed in various items imported from Toronto, Canada.

In Kano, Gidado Sani was re-arrested in the Sharada area with 85 blocks of cannabis, weighing 50.1kg. Similarly, in Ogun state, Wasiu Jimoh was apprehended with 84 parcels (62kg) of cannabis sativa during a raid operation at Ilese Awo.

In separate operations in Lagos, Emeka Umeh was intercepted with 506.2kg of cannabis at Igbede, Ojo area, while Victor Okeke was apprehended with 142grams of cannabis sativa and 175 litres of skuchies at Igbo Elerin, Ojo.

Additionally, NDLEA officers, in collaboration with Young Shall Grow Motors in Aba, Abia State, thwarted a smuggling attempt by Ifeanyi Udogwu, who tried to transport 1.5kg of cocaine concealed in music speakers.

The NDLEA continues to intensify efforts to combat drug trafficking across the country, urging vigilance and cooperation from the public in the fight against illicit drugs.
