Incident Overview

The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed in a statement on Monday that the incident took place on February 5, 2025, at around 10:00 a.m. The attack targeted three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office – TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi – who were carrying out an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.

The officials reportedly encountered an elderly man, later identified as Portable’s father, at Odogwu Bar, a property linked to the singer. When asked for the building’s approved plan, the elderly man stated that Portable was unavailable. However, shortly after, Portable allegedly arrived at the scene with a firearm and other dangerous weapons, leading a gang of nine men in an attack on the unarmed officials.

The enforcement officers sustained injuries but managed to escape and reported the incident to the Ota Area Command, leading to the case being escalated to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Police Action and Declaration

While nine of Portable’s alleged accomplices were arrested, the singer fled the scene and has since been in hiding.

Despite multiple formal invitations by the Ogun State Police Command requesting his presence at their headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, Portable reportedly ignored them without offering legal representation.

Following his repeated evasion, the police obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted.

“The public is urged to assist in locating the singer,” the police statement read. “Anyone found aiding or harbouring him will face legal consequences.” Citizens with relevant information are encouraged to report to the nearest police station or contact the Ogun State Police Command through official channels.

This development comes two weeks after nine of Portable’s associates were arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, for allegedly assaulting officers of the Ota Zonal Planning Office of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

The accused – Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26) – faced charges of felony, assault, unlawful restriction, possession of weapons, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

During the court session, the police prosecutor, Sunday Ekong, revealed that the defendants, alongside Portable (who remains at large), unlawfully assaulted and obstructed three town planning officers while they were performing their official duties. He also noted that the defendants were armed and acted in a manner likely to cause a public disturbance.

The offences contravene Sections 516, 356(3), 80, 249(d), and 320 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
