Recent months have seen a series of similar tragedies. In late November, 10 newborns died in a hospital fire in Uttar Pradesh, while earlier this year, six infants perished in a blaze at a children’s hospital in New Delhi. In May, a fire at an amusement park arcade in Gujarat killed at least 27 people, including several children.
