Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (retd.), a former Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria, has died after a brief illness. He was 75 years old.
According to a statement from the Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, Admiral Ogohi passed away in the early hours of Sunday at his residence in Abuja.
The late Admiral Ogohi, who hailed from Kogi State, made history as the first naval officer to become Chief of Defence Staff, serving from 1999 to 2003. He was also the first naval officer to attain the four-star rank in the Nigerian military during a civilian administration.
Admiral Ogohi’s legacy is marked by his distinguished service to the nation. His death has been met with an outpouring of condolences from the military and political circles.
