Video: Hundreds Turn up for 2024 OPM Free Skills Acquisition Scheme Screening

The screening exercise for the enrolment for the 2024 batch of the OPM Free Skills Acquisition Scheme was massive as hundreds turn up at the church headquarters in Port Harcourt to be screened at the church headquarters in Port Harcourt on Monday.

A video posted on the church Facebook page shows hundreds of applicants in a queue to be screened at the church premises at Mbodu, In Alu, Port Harcourt.

The scheme runs under the church foundation known as the OPM Foundation which offers carries out humanitarian works in various capacities for indigent persons in the society. Every training at the scheme is done at no cost to the trainees.

The founder of the church, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, in a chat with REPORT AFRIQUE correspondent said the all trainees fees are paid from the tithes and offerings from the OPM church.

” OPM believe in giving back to the society and the people. Hence, as a policy, the OPM church through its foundation offers many humanitarian programmes, of which the Free Skill Acquisition Scheme is one of them.” Pastor Chinyere told REPORT AFRIQUE.

The OPM Free Skill Acquisition Scheme has benefited thousands of indigent young persons for 13 years now. The Scheme is designed to equip applicants with basic and advanced skills in the following areas:

1. PIPELINE WELDING

2.  SCAFFOLDING

4.  HAT AND BAG MAKING

5.  FEMALE TAILORING

6.  MALE TAILORING

7.  OIL RIGGING OPERATIONS

8.  MARINE ENGINEERING

9.  OIL WELL DRILLING, COMPLETION AND PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY

10.  PIPELINE FITTING

11.  INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL (ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL)

12.  ICT

13.  DEFENSIVE DRIVING

14.  FOOD AND NUTRITION (CATERING)

15.  FURNITURE MAKING

16.  HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

17.  PAINT PRODUCTION

18.  MEN SHOE MAKING

Successful trainees are awarded a certificate with which they can be employed with in the labour market.

OPM also carries out several humanitarian works, including an educational scholarship programme that has benefited thousands of students in Nigerian and foreign universities.
