Daddy Freeze sets new dining standards for 2025, urging Nigerian restaurants to provide healthier drink options.
Nigerian media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, widely known as Daddy Freeze, has sparked conversation about healthier dining standards in Nigeria. In a recent Instagram post, the outspoken commentator announced his plan to boycott restaurants that fail to offer specific drink options in 2025, advocating for a shift toward health-conscious dining experiences.
Daddy Freeze’s Standards for 2025 Dining
Daddy Freeze made his stance clear, urging Nigerian restaurants to stock diet, light, or zero-sugar drink alternatives. He expressed his preference for these healthier options over sugary sodas and fruit juices, noting their adverse health implications. In his post, he said:
“Dear Nigerian Restaurants, if you don’t stock diet, light, or zero-sugar drinks, I won’t be visiting your restaurants in 2025. I don’t drink regular soda; it’s all sugar. I don’t drink fruit juices, even freshly squeezed, as they are sugar-swamped.”
Daddy Freeze addressed concerns about artificial sweeteners, particularly aspartame, which often faces criticism. He explained that aspartame, when consumed responsibly, is a safer alternative to sugar:
“For it to be harmful to you, you need at least 48 cans a day. The poison is in the quantity. Remember, if you drank 5 liters of water at once, you could suffer from water intoxication.”
He emphasized that many restaurants in the UK already cater to health-conscious diners by offering zero-sugar or diet drinks, urging Nigerian establishments to adopt similar practices.
