14-day countdown begins for vehicle users to register for safety and security compliance

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced the imminent enforcement of the digitalized Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) in a bid to enhance national security and combat vehicle-related crimes.

Enforcement To Commence July 29, 2024

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the e-CMR enforcement will begin on July 29, 2024, following a 14-day grace period for vehicle owners to register and obtain the digitalized CMR certificate online.

Advanced Online Repository For Motor Vehicle Data

The e-CMR is a real-time online database designed to support police investigations, operational activities, and combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and armed robbery.

Streamlined Documentation And Verification Process

The digitalized system will facilitate seamless transactions for vehicle ownership, change of ownership, license number, engine, and chassis/body changes.

Validation Of Vehicle Genuiness And Ownership

The e-CMR will ensure the genuineness of vehicles and ownership, enabling effective tracking and recovery of stolen vehicles and preventing the purchase of stolen vehicles by innocent buyers.

Publicity And Enforcement Procedures

The NPF has ordered a nationwide publicity campaign to inform the public of the requirements, processes, and enforcement procedures. Vehicle owners can obtain the digitalized CMR certificate online at https://cmris.npf.gov.ng and contact the CMR Command Centre for inquiries.
