Rivers State Police Inspector Allegedly Takes Own Life
Port Harcourt, Rivers State – A Rivers State Police Inspector, Maxwell Zubu, is reported to have committed suicide in the Eagle Island area of Port Harcourt on Tuesday. Zubu, a security detail for a former chairman of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, was found deceased.
Details surrounding the incident remain scarce, with the precise circumstances leading to Zubu’s death yet to be established. Initial reports indicate that the incident was reported to the Eagle Island Police Post, a part of the Azikiwe Police Division in Mile 2 Diobu. A police source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that officers from Azikiwe Division responded to the scene for preliminary investigation.
Confirming the tragic event, a spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that an investigation is underway. “We have commenced an investigation to determine the cause of this incident, and our findings will be made public,” she said. “The case has been referred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt for a comprehensive probe.”
