Port Harcourt, Nigeria – The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has declared Hon. Uzodinma Nwafor of the Action Alliance (AA) as the winner of the chairmanship election for Etche Local Government Area in the recently concluded local government polls.
The announcement came as a surprise, given that the Action People’s Party (APP) secured 22 out of the 23 chairmanship seats across the state, making Etche the only local government area where a different party triumphed.
Hon. Nwafor joined other chairmen-elect at a ceremony held by RSIEC to issue certificates of return to the winners. The event precedes the formal swearing-in ceremony, which is scheduled to take place later today.
According to a government special announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, Governor Siminalayi Fubara will swear in the newly elected council chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, by 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
