Ganduje emphasized the importance of strengthening the party’s grassroots connections, saying, “Traditionally, the inauguration of a state chapter takes place at the APC national headquarters in Abuja.
Port Harcourt, Nigeria – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has announced that Rivers State is the party’s next major political target in the South-South geopolitical zone.
Speaking on Friday at the inauguration of the Rivers State APC Executive Committee led by Tony Okocha, Ganduje declared the party’s determination to consolidate its influence in the region, which has traditionally been a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“You are from the South-South geopolitical zone that was dominated by the PDP,” Ganduje stated. “During the Buhari administration, we were able to take Cross River State from the PDP. Now, under the Bola Tinubu administration, we have won in Edo State. Out of six states in the zone, we’ve recovered two. Rivers State is next.”
Ganduje emphasized the importance of strengthening the party’s grassroots connections, saying, “Traditionally, the inauguration of a state chapter takes place at the APC national headquarters in Abuja. However, we decided to hold this ceremony in Rivers to ensure that our party is deeply rooted at the state level and to close any gaps between the national and state executives.”
The APC Chairman also outlined the responsibilities of the newly inaugurated state leadership, urging them to prioritize internal democracy and recruit new members. “Your primary responsibilities are clearly stated in the party’s constitution. You must promote internal democracy and expand our membership base,” Ganduje said.
He congratulated the new executives and reiterated the party’s commitment to taking Rivers State from the opposition. “Rivers, we are here for you. Rivers, you are on the way,” he declared confidently.
The inauguration, which was attended by party stakeholders and members, marks a significant step in the APC’s plans to strengthen its foothold in the South-South region.
