At least 30 federal lawmakers gathered in Port Harcourt to support Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara during a Special Thanksgiving Church Service marking his first anniversary in office.
The event was held at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Garrison Junction.
The lawmakers, under the auspices of the G-60 group and led by Imo State lawmaker Ikenga Ugochinyere, commended Governor Fubara for his achievements amidst recent challenges. They highlighted his notable infrastructure projects, including the Trans-Kalabari Road, Port Harcourt Ring Road, and Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Road, as significant contributions to the state’s development.
“We are particularly delighted with the Trans-Kalabari Road project, benefiting over three or four local governments,” Ugochinyere stated. “We are also impressed with the Port Harcourt Ring Road project and other infrastructure developments.”
After the church service, the lawmakers were hosted by Governor Fubara at the Government House for further discussions. Ugochinyere emphasized the group’s solidarity with the governor, expressing their appreciation for his focused leadership and calling on the people of Rivers State to continue their support.
“We appreciate what he is doing and are here to thank God Almighty for his accomplishments. We call on Rivers people to stand firmly with Governor Fubara so he can deliver on his promises,” Ugochinyere added.
He also congratulated Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon Victor Oko-Jumbo, for his support, noting that the cooperation between the executive and legislative branches has enabled the state to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Ugochinyere urged all stakeholders to prioritize the development of Rivers State, stressing that governance is about public trust and institution, not personal interests. “It is God who gives power, and He has placed Governor Fubara on the saddle. Let’s all join hands to support him in delivering these projects.”
