Several aspirants and agents participating in the Ondo APC primary governorship elections have expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, alleging discrepancies and irregularities.

One of the aspirants, Olugbenga Edema, highlighted concerns regarding the deviation from the scheduled timeline and raised suspicions about the distribution of materials, suggesting potential favoritism towards certain candidates.

According to Edema, delays in material distribution and contradictory actions by the primary committee have cast doubt on the integrity of the process. He called for a thorough investigation to ensure a credible election where voters’ voices are heard and respected.

Similarly, Rotimi Williams, representing another aspirant, Olushola Oke, echoed Edema’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of adhering to due process for the party’s success. Williams criticized the alleged manipulation of results and urged for accountability from the national leadership.

Shola Ajisafe, agent for Adewale Akinterinwa, added to the chorus of concerns, describing any action that inhibits democratic rights as anti-democratic. He proposed rescheduling the primary and replacing the leader of the election committee to rectify the situation.

The primary, which saw 16 candidates vying for the APC ticket, including incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, adopted a direct mode across 203 wards. With 171,922 party members expected to participate, the stakes for the November 16, 2024, governorship election remain high.
