The Arewa Indigenous Obidients Forum, a prominent northern group, has publicly endorsed Peter Obi for the 2027 presidential election.

The group announced plans for extensive mobilization efforts to support Obi’s candidacy.

During a press conference in Kano, the Forum’s Coordinator, Engineer Alkassim Awwal, expressed confidence in Obi’s potential to lead Nigeria. He stated that with divine intervention, Obi would emerge victorious in the upcoming election.

“We listened as Peter Obi literally begged Nigerians to listen to his vision, yet we dismissed it as one of many political talks that we have heard in the past,” Awwal said. “We now read the clear handwriting on the wall. We recalled the ethos of truth and sincere pledges to revive Nigeria’s economy and revamp our innate patriotism.”

The Forum’s support for Obi comes amid widespread hunger, poverty, and uncertainty in Nigeria. Awwal acknowledged the shared responsibility of Nigerians, including Forum members, for the current state of the nation. He lamented that Obi’s previous appeals and visionary plans were initially dismissed as mere political rhetoric.

Reflecting on Obi’s past campaigns, Awwal highlighted the former Anambra Governor’s clear messages, which called for truth, economic revival, and renewed national patriotism. He contrasted this with the current leadership, accusing those in power of indulging in extravagance amidst the nation’s struggles.

The Arewa Indigenous Obidients Forum committed to mobilizing support for Obi across the Northern region and beyond, aiming to build a strong foundation for his success in the 2027 election.
