Atiku Abubakar Hosts Peter Obi for Breakfast: A Reunion of Political Allies
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar recently welcomed Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, to his residence in Adamawa State. Atiku shared this encounter through a video posted on X.com on Saturday, captioning it, “It is breakfast time with my friend, #PeterObi, in the ‘land of beauty.’” The footage depicted the two leaders and other guests gathered around a dining table, preparing to enjoy a meal together.
This gathering is not the first since the conclusion of the 2023 elections; Atiku and Obi had met previously in May of this year. In that same month, Obi visited notable figures including former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido and former Senate President Bukola Saraki at their homes in Abuja. These visits marked Obi’s initial reconnecting with his former political allies after he transitioned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party (LP) in May 2022.
During those discussions, as explained by Yunusa Tanko, the Chief Spokesman for Obi’s Presidential Campaign Organization, the focus was on strategies to “rescue the soul of Nigeria” from the dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
