Peter Obi Denies Involvement in US Elections
The statement criticized the logic of such comparisons, asking whether linking Peter Obi to Trump would mean equating President Bola Tinubu with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.

Abuja, Nigeria – Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has expressed his discontent with the Presidency for allegedly attempting to tarnish his reputation by linking him to the ongoing U.S. presidential election.

Obi conveyed his frustration through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Umar, in Abuja.

The statement, titled “Why Desperate OBI Traducers Are Kissing the Dust,” denounced what Obi called a futile attempt to associate him with U.S. Republican candidate Donald Trump.

The media statement accused the Presidency and its allies of fabricating negative narratives around Obi to distract from their own shortcomings. It emphasized that every day brings new efforts to connect Obi to unfavorable stories, including imaginary arrests and baseless allegations of violence sponsorship.

Obi’s camp dismissed the recent attempt to link him with Trump’s candidacy as an “uncanny” tactic aimed at gaining favor with the Democrats, labeling it “laughable.”

The statement criticized the logic of such comparisons, asking whether linking Peter Obi to Trump would mean equating President Bola Tinubu with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.

According to Obi’s media team, the Presidency’s attempts to discredit the former Anambra State governor only highlight the administration’s failures and inability to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges. Obi’s camp further accused the Presidency of trying to distract Nigerians from its “anti-people” policies that have allegedly worsened living conditions in the country.

Obi remains committed to his vision of a fair and prosperous Nigeria, the statement added, urging his supporters, particularly those within the “Obidient” movement, to stay focused on their goal for positive change in the country.
