In a recent political development in Rivers State, notable leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have pledged their loyalty to Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, dealing a blow to the camp of his predecessor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
The decision was announced at a press conference held in Port Harcourt, where former APC leaders and elected officials cited their commitment to supporting the development agenda of Governor Fubara.
Among the prominent figures who declared their allegiance to Fubara’s administration are Hon. Raymond Nwokocha and Hon. Austin Ahiamadu, former chairmen of the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area.
The list of defectors includes high-profile names such as Hon. Chikordi Ogwurie Dike, former Obio/Akpor APC leader, and Hon. George Ukwuomanwogba, former State Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Etche LGA.
Other notable personalities who joined the ranks of Fubara’s supporters include former council chairmen, party officials, and respected community leaders from various local government areas in the state.
In addition to the aforementioned leaders, the following individuals have also pledged their support to Governor Fubara:
Hon. (Barr) Awori Miller, former Council Chairman, Ahoada West LGA
Hon. Chigbo John, immediate past APC State Financial Secretary, Ahoada West LGA
Sam Woka, former Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Information, Ikwerre LGA
Barr. Obidinma Igwe, immediate past Vice Chairman, Rivers East Senatorial District, APC, Obio/Akpor LGA
Hon. Raymond Wokocha, former Council Chairman, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA

Chief Samuel Azu, Oyigbo LGA
Godfrey Oluo, Omuma LGA
Bar. Austin Osimeji, Emohua LGA
Prince German, Ahoada West LGA
Dickson Youngman, Degema LGA
The defectors praised Governor Fubara’s development initiatives and expressed their readiness to collaborate with his administration to ensure the continued progress of Rivers State.
This move is perceived as a setback for Chief Nyesom Wike, who has been engaged in political disputes with Governor Fubara, and a significant boost for Fubara’s political faction as the state gears up for future elections.
With the alignment of key APC leaders behind Governor Fubara, the political landscape in Rivers State undergoes a notable shift, setting the stage for heightened tensions between rival factions as the state moves closer to upcoming electoral contests.
