Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ojukaye Amachree as the new Director of Energy Security in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by Zakari Mijinyawa, Head of Strategic Communications for ONSA, on Tuesday in Abuja.
His responsibilities will include overseeing policy coordination, infrastructure protection strategies, data management, security coordination, risk advisory, and fostering strategic alliances within the energy sector. His role aligns with the government’s aim to ensure a stable, sustainable, and secure energy supply for Nigerians.
“In this new role, Hon. Amachree will spearhead key national energy security initiatives aimed at enhancing energy security and promoting community involvement in safeguarding Nigeria’s energy resources for both short and long-term sustainability,” Mijinyawa stated.
Amachree brings over 20 years of experience in business, politics, and the energy sector, particularly in the Niger Delta. He has a notable track record in leadership across both the public and private sectors.
The new Energy Security Director will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including government ministries, security agencies, and energy sector regulators. Additionally, he will engage with international partners and community leaders to develop innovative solutions to address Nigeria’s current and future energy challenges.
Mijinyawa also noted that Amachree holds degrees in Management and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, emphasizing that the appointment reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s energy security and resilience, while addressing supply chain issues.
