In a recent meeting with a delegation of Islamic leaders at the State House, President Bola Tinubu declared that his electoral victory was achieved through his personal fortune, asserting that he owes nothing to any cabal.
Addressing the delegation led by Sheikh Bala Lau, Tinubu attributed his win to divine intervention and stressed that his campaign was self-funded and devoid of any external manipulations.
“I have no cabal. I have no sponsors. The money I spent on the elections was my personal fortune,” Tinubu stated. He highlighted the challenges he faced, including locked banks, but credited his success to the will of Allah.
The President underscored the importance of a clear conscience as a defense against corruption and emphasized the need to focus on the future of Nigeria’s children, advocating for their education and responsible citizenship.
Regarding current economic reforms, the President reassured that there would be no influence from any interest group. He also discussed plans to rework the social welfare scheme to better reach the grassroots level, promising allowances for the poor and vulnerable, student loans for school fees, and consumer credit for purchasing cars and houses. Additionally, he noted a more than 100 percent increase in the minimum wage.
Tinubu criticized the motives of protest sponsors, accusing them of placing selfish ambitions above national interest and lacking true citizenship, often holding alternative passports and conducting virtual meetings from abroad. He warned against the potential violence of protests driven by anger and hate, cautioning against turning Nigeria into a conflict zone like Sudan.
Sheikh Bala Lau, speaking on behalf of the delegation, assured the President of their support through prayers and increased sensitization efforts.
