The Police Service Commission (PSC) has firmly denied reports that it cancelled the recently concluded 2022 police constable recruitment.
This denial comes amid ongoing disputes between the PSC and the Joint Congress of the Police Service Commission, following allegations of irregularities in the recruitment process.
In a statement released on Tuesday, PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, emphasized that the final list of successful candidates will not be cancelled. Ani asserted that the recruitment exercise adhered strictly to relevant laws and guidelines.
“The Police Service Commission has just completed routine maintenance of its portal containing the list of successful candidates for the constable cadre recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force,” Ani said. “The commission disowns the circulating social media statement alleging it has cancelled the final list under pressure. This is false.”
Ani reassured successful candidates that the recruitment process remains valid and urged them to ignore false reports. He highlighted the commission’s commitment to a merit-based and inclusive recruitment process, ensuring federal character, gender sensitivity, and merit.
“The commission is in control of the situation and has restored the recruitment portal with its original contents,” Ani added. “Successful candidates should disregard the deliberate antics of desperate groups aiming to tarnish the commission’s efforts.”
Ani warned those spreading false information to desist, stating that any individual caught undermining the recruitment process would face legal consequences. He confirmed that the recruitment portal is now fully functional and accessible, apologizing for any previous disruptions.
“The Commission calls on these disgruntled elements to cease undermining the recruitment exercise. Anyone caught will be dealt with accordingly,” Ani concluded. “The portal is now fully operational, and candidates can access all its features without issues.”
