Bucharest – The Romanian government has announced the launch of the Romania Government Scholarship 2025, a fully funded program aimed at supporting non-European Union (EU) students pursuing undergraduate, master’s, and PhD degrees at accredited the country’s universities.
The initiative seeks to strengthen international academic collaboration and provide opportunities for talented students from outside the EU, according to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Comprehensive Financial Support
The scholarship covers full tuition fees for the entire duration of the selected academic program. In addition, recipients will receive a monthly stipend to help with living expenses, with undergraduate students receiving €65, master’s students €75, and PhD candidates €85 per month.
Further financial assistance includes accommodation subsidies for students residing in university dormitories, subject to availability. Additionally, scholarship holders will have access to public transport at the same rates as indigenous students and will be exempt from registration and visa fees.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be non-EU nationals with a minimum academic performance of 7/10 or the equivalent of a ‘Good’ grade in their last completed studies.
- Submit a complete application with all required documents.
- Not be Romanian citizens or hold any form of protection in the country.
- Not be related to diplomatic personnel accredited in Romania.
The scholarship is available for students pursuing degrees in various fields, excluding Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Pharmacy.
Programs and Language Requirements
Eligible students can apply for:
- Bachelor’s programs, which last between 3 to 6 years and are taught in the country.
- Master’s programs, lasting 1 to 2 years, also in the country.
- PhD programs, with a duration of 3 to 5 years, which may be conducted in Romanian or other foreign languages depending on university regulations.
For students who do not speak Romanian, a one-year preparatory language course is provided, except for PhD students opting for programs in English or another foreign language.
Application Process and Deadline
Interested candidates must apply online via the Study in Romania platform and submit the following documents:
- Academic diplomas and transcripts (translated into English, French, Spanish, or Romanian).
- Birth certificate.
- Passport or national identity card (translated).
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English or French.
- Letter of intent (for PhD applicants), along with an acceptance letter from a doctoral tutor.
The application deadline is March 12, 2025, with results expected to be announced by June 30, 2025.
