Lagos Governor, Sanwo-Olu Warns Against Commercial Activities on Red Line Rail Tracks

Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu, has issued a stern warning against the misuse of railway tracks along the Red Line Rail for commercial purposes, stressing that they are designated solely for transportation.

During an inspection of the ongoing work at stations along the Red Line Rail, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of preserving the tracks for their intended purpose of transportation.

He stated unequivocally that the railway tracks are not to be utilized as market spaces for selling goods.

This warning comes amidst concerns about the encroachment of vendors and traders on railway property, potentially endangering both commuters and sellers. Governor Sanwo-Olu’s directive underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and efficiency of Lagos State’s transportation infrastructure.

The Governor also conducted a comprehensive inspection and closely monitored ongoing cleanup operations at both the Obalende and Ijora under-bridges. The aim of this initiative is to revitalize these spaces and transform them into vibrant, safe areas for the community.

During the assessment, Mr. Sanwo-Olu addressed illegal occupants at the Ijora under-bridge, emphasizing the importance of the cleanup efforts. It was made clear that a range of recreational activities would be established beneath the bridges, and no individual would be permitted to reside or slumber beneath these structures in the future.

This concerted effort by Governor underscores a commitment to enhancing the living environment and promoting community well-being. Stay tuned for further updates on the progress of these revitalization efforts.

The Governor made this known on his X microblog account on Sunday.
