South African Opposition Leader, Julius Malema Arrives Lagos

South African vocal opposition leader, Julius Malema has arrived in Lagos, Nigeria.

Malema shared the news of his arrival in the commercial city of Nigeria on his official X handle.

In his post, Malema said he was excited to be in Nigeria.

He is billed to show support to his friend, Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina, the President of the African Development Bank Group as he receives the acclaimed Obafemi Awolowo Prize for his exceptional leadership skills in Lagos on March 6.

Who is Julius Malema?

Malema is remarkable for remaining very vocal against the apartheid regime as well as white supremacy syndrome in South Africa. He is also the leader of the The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), a South African Marxist–Leninist and black nationalist political party, which he founded after he was ousted as the president of  African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in 2013.

EFF currently the third-largest party in both houses of the South African Parliament. The party is also the official opposition in three of South Africa’s nine provincial legislatures.
