In a move to honor their bravery and dedication of Nigeria’s law enforcement, President Bola Tinubu has officially declared April 7 as National Police Day.
The announcement was made during the inaugural award and commendations event organized by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Abuja, where Vice President Kashim delivered the President’s speech titled “Courage Under Fire: A Bouquet for Our Police Force.”
Vice President Shettima highlighted the indispensable role of the police amidst Nigeria’s current security challenges. He underscored the administration’s steadfast commitment to modernizing the Nigeria Police Force into a professional and accountable institution reflective of the nation’s values.
The speech outlined a series of comprehensive reforms, including substantial investments in training and capacity-building, aimed at equipping officers with the requisite knowledge, skills, and technology to effectively tackle contemporary policing challenges.
