Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has promoted the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, to the rank of Lieutenant General in a ceremony held at the Presidential Office on Tuesday.

During the event, President Tinubu commended the Nigerian military for its dedication and unwavering commitment to national security. “It is both an honor and a privilege to decorate you today,” Tinubu said, recognizing Lt. Gen.

Oluyede’s exemplary service record. “This promotion reflects your steadfast commitment to safeguarding our nation,” he added, assuring the armed forces that the government remains attentive to their needs.

The President acknowledged the military’s achievements in tackling security threats across Nigeria, attributing recent successes to strengthened cooperation among the service branches. “The synergy among you has calmed the country, and we need that stability to continue,” Tinubu stated. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring peace and prosperity for all Nigerians.

Lt. Gen. Oluyede expressed gratitude for the promotion and reaffirmed his dedication to maintaining peace across the country, in alignment with the vision of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.

Lt. Gen. Oluyede, who joined the Nigerian Army through the 39th Regular Course and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on September 19, 1992, has had a distinguished career. His service record includes participation in critical operations such as the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) mission in Liberia, Operation Harmony IV in Bakassi, and Operation Hadin Kai in the North East.
