President Bola Tinubu will meet with state governors today at the 142nd National Economic Council (NEC) meeting to discuss the new national minimum wage.
This meeting comes after the Federal Executive Council delayed the report on the new minimum wage to allow President Tinubu to consult with stakeholders.
The minimum wage issue affects not only the federal government but also state governments, local governments, and the private sector.
Labour leaders are pushing for a minimum wage of N250,000, while the federal government and state governors have offered N62,000.
State governors have insisted that they cannot sustain a minimum wage higher than N60,000.
The NEC meeting is being held at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja and will be chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
