Dignitaries and Remarks

The commissioning ceremony was attended by prominent figures across Rivers State, including Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Odu, Government House Chief of Staff Dr. Edison Ehie, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo, and other political and community leaders.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Umejuru reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the development of ONELGA.

“The people of ONELGA under my administration will be happy, and our resources will be spent judiciously for the benefit of the people. We will continue to embark on people-oriented projects,” he stated.

Dr. Edison Ehie, while commending the LGA Chairman for his achievements within a short period, described his performance as remarkable. He also used the occasion to extend an apology on behalf of Orashi leaders to former Rivers State Governor, Sir Dr. Peter Odili, over comments made by Bro Felix Obua concerning Odili’s support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid the ongoing political tensions between Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The rift between Governor Fubara and Minister Wike has fueled political divisions in Rivers State, leading to heightened tensions among political stakeholders.

Hon. Umejuru’s first 100 days in office have been marked by a strong emphasis on infrastructure, community development, and economic empowerment, positioning his administration as one focused on grassroots transformation.
