Gunmen Attack School Bus in Pakistan, Killing Two Girls and Wounding Five Children

Four youths were killed in an attack by gunmen at a mining site in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday night.

Attock – In a tragic incident on Thursday morning, gunmen opened fire on a school bus in the town of Attock, located in the central province of Punjab, Pakistan.

The attack left two young girls dead and five other children wounded, according to local police.

Police official Usman Haider reported that the victims, all between the ages of five and ten, were on their way to school when the assailants targeted the bus.

The motive behind the attack is still under investigation, though initial findings suggest a possible feud between two families. Authorities are also exploring the possibility of terrorism.

This incident follows a history of attacks on educational institutions in Pakistan, with Islamist militants having previously targeted schools, colleges, and universities.

Notably, the 2014 Taliban attack on a military-run school in northwestern part of the country resulted in the deaths of nearly 150 children.

In 2012, a Taliban member shot Malala Yousafzai, who later became a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, in an attack on a school bus in Swat.
