Heavyweight Showdown Set for Riyadh Season as Joshua Seeks Rematch Against Dubois in February 2025
The long-awaited rematch between heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois has been confirmed for February 2025, with Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, set to be the battleground. The announcement came from Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, during a press event following the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol fight.
Alalshikh revealed that the fight would be a key part of the Riyadh Season, a high-profile sports and entertainment festival running from October through early March. He teased the potential for even more blockbuster bouts, saying, “We want the big fights to determine who’s the best in each division.”
Joshua’s previous loss to Dubois in August left boxing fans stunned as the former champion was knocked out in Round 5 at Wembley Stadium. Despite the defeat, Joshua has remained determined to continue his career and is reportedly focused on securing redemption in the rematch.
Prominent figures from both camps are already weighing in on the upcoming showdown. Frank Warren, Dubois’ promoter, believes Joshua’s downfall was due to his vulnerability when on the back foot, a strategy Dubois exploited during their first bout.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed the rematch would take place as part of Riyadh Season, adding, “Anything within that period takes place in Riyadh.”
With high stakes and the potential for more heavyweight drama, the Joshua-Dubois rematch is expected to draw significant global attention as boxing’s heavyweights battle for supremacy in early 2025.
