London – Arsenal’s Premier League title aspirations took a significant hit on Saturday as they suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to West Ham. Jarrod Bowen’s first-half header proved to be the difference, while Arsenal’s woes were compounded by the sending-off of Myles Lewis-Skelly in the 73rd minute.
The Gunners, already struggling with injuries, failed to find a way past a resilient West Ham defense. The defeat leaves Mikel Arteta’s side in second place, trailing league leaders Liverpool by eight points.
Meanwhile, Manchester United staged a dramatic late comeback to salvage a 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park. The Toffees, revitalized under returning manager David Moyes, dominated the first half, taking a deserved two-goal lead.
Beto opened the scoring in the 19th minute after a goalmouth scramble, while Abdoulaye Doucoure doubled the advantage, outjumping Harry Maguire to head home after Jack Harrison’s shot was saved by Andre Onana.
Everton remained in control until the 72nd minute, when Bruno Fernandes pulled one back with a well-placed free-kick. Manuel Ugarte then completed the comeback eight minutes later with a powerful strike.
The match took another twist late on when referee Andrew Madley awarded Everton a penalty following Ashley Young’s fall under Maguire’s challenge. However, a VAR review overturned the decision, allowing United to escape with a point.
The result eases pressure on United manager Ruben Amorim, who avoided what would have been his ninth league defeat in 13 matches, while Everton were left frustrated after letting their dominance slip.
