Contrary to online reports, Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), asserts that he has not received any information regarding Finidi George’s resignation as Super Eagles coach.

This development follows the NFF’s announcement on Thursday to appoint an “expatriate technical adviser” due to the team’s poor performance in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Super Eagles’ struggles have resulted in only three points out of a possible 12, placing them fifth in Group C and jeopardizing their qualification hopes. Fans are calling for resignations from both Finidi George and NFF board members.

Finidi George reportedly resigned on Tuesday morning due to the NFF’s failure to address key issues, including late player arrivals and inadequate support in Ivory Coast. Despite this, Gusau claims he is “not yet aware” of the situation.
